The Design Edit – An Exclusive Interview with 1508 London

This summer, House of Rohl returned to one of the most celebrated events on the international design calendar - WOW!house 2025 at Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour. For its fourth consecutive year, House of Rohl partnered with acclaimed global interior design firm, 1508 London to unveil a Primary Bathroom that was as emotive as it was luxurious. Read on to discover more about this exciting collaboration, including an insightful video interview with 1508 London.
A Collaboration Rooted in Storytelling and Craftsmanship
Having worked together on a number of projects, House of Rohl and 1508 share the same essential values - namely an unwavering commitment to exceptional quality, meticulous attention to detail and a passion for storytelling through design, which formed the foundation of the Primary bathroom, which resonated far beyond aesthetics.
Together, House of Rohl and 1508 London delivered a multisensory space, layered with texture, light, tone, shade and narrative - inviting visitors into a serene and sculptural retreat designed for modern slow living.
“Bathrooms are naturally associated with wellbeing and with a growing global emphasis on slow living and self-care, the act of bathing is becoming increasingly significant. Having a private space at home for rejuvenation has regained importance. We are seeing more in-depth discussions around bathroom design.” 1508 London.
This year’s theme seamlessly blended 1508 London’s global sensibility with House of Rohl’s dedication to exquisite craftsmanship and detail with three guiding principles explored:
Reflection, Ritual and Reverie
A holistic response to contemporary living, the Primary Bathroom was conceptualised as a place to pause, recharge and reconnect with self. The themes came to life in distinct but seamless ways:
Reflection was echoed in fluid silhouettes, metallic finishes and the interplay of light on natural stone and water.
Ritual was conveyed through curated zones for bathing, dressing and cleansing - each enhanced with architectural lighting and artisanal details.
Reverie emerged through global influences and a materials palette inspired by traditional hammams, handwoven textiles, and ancient craftsmanship.
Celebrating the Individual Elements of a Bathroom
Key to the design was celebrating the separate elements of a bathroom – primarily the shower, bath and dressing room. Each zone was lit individually with smart lighting allowing the user to adapt the lighting guided by the three principles.
“The WOW!house Primary Bathroom was warmly lit for an inviting design that encourages the user to spend time in the room. Bespoke and proprietary lights from Bert Frank, Atelier Alain Ellouz and Atelier 001 help to define the different zones all carefully considered by John Cullen lighting design.” 1508 London.
Showstopping Shower
A sculptural and tactile curved shower took centre stage in the bathroom featuring brassware from Perrin & Rowe’s Langbourn collection. The perforated structure allowed natural light to cascade through for an ethereal feel. The organic design was reinforced through the flooring made from 350-million-year-old fossils by Britannicus Stone.
“Perrin and Rowe's Langbourn collection presents a fantastic contemporary design that elegantly blends traditional brassware styling with a sleek, modern aesthetic. Made in Britain, the wall-mounted mixers and shower fittings complement the modern, spa-like quality we envisioned for the bathroom, without losing the charm of more traditional styles.” 1508 London.
The Sculptural Victoria + Albert Seros Bath
Developed in collaboration with British sculptor, Sophie-Elizabeth Thompson, the Victoria + Albert Seros freestanding bath, which embodies the energy and movement of water through organic, fluid forms was paired with Perrin & Rowe’s Langbourn brassware.
“With its distinctive sculptural form, the Seros bath embodies both the fluidity of water and the ruggedness of a rock face carved by it. This duality evokes the power of natural transformation and offers a refreshing feeling.” 1508 London
The striking Ore pendant by Atelier 001 was specified for a bold yet harmonious focal point with the bath elegantly framed by handwoven curtains from Coral Stephens Weaving Studio, softening the space and inviting visitors to retreat and relax.
Bespoke Twin Vanities
Two striking bespoke vanities by Anka Bespoke were positioned either side of the shower. Using the latest liquid metal technology, the vanity units offer a tactile bronzed finish elegantly adorned with sculptural basins from the Victoria + Albert Seros collection. The vanities were complemented by carefully curated features such as bespoke Bert Frank light pendants and bespoke Novocastrin mirrors.
“Strategically placed dual vanities are highly effective in capturing attention within a bathroom design offering symmetry and equilibrium. The WOW!house design incorporates two custom-designed vanities by Anka Metals, which were conceived as striking sculptural elements to complement the Victoria + Albert Seros bath and basins. The organic form of the vanities feels natural and soft, while the integrated shelf provides practical functionality. The beautiful pitted bronze finish adds to the unique character.” 1508 London.
Dressing Room
A luxurious and inviting dressing area included a number of special items, including the Lily Stool from celebrated British designer, Tom Faulkner. The soft, curved lines of the Lily Stool subtly echo the shape of lily pads, contributing to the organic feel of the bathroom.
The distinctive Cloud mirror from Mia Jung is inspired by elements shifting and dancing together, captured in the undulating surface of the hand poured glass and precious metals.
