The benefits of a hot water tap

Whether you’re currently working on a kitchen renovation, looking to refresh an existing space or simply looking to improve the way you work in the kitchen, the instant hot water tap has become the new must-have product. The combination of convenience and practicality means that once you own one, you’ll never want to fill a kettle again.

Perrin & Rowe have been engineering instant hot water taps for years, using state of the art technology and engineering to complement the beautiful designs that Perrin & Rowe is renowned for. Our instant hot taps are available in all eight Perrin & Rowe finishes, including three unlacquered, living brass finishes, meaning all your fixtures and fittings can match perfectly.

Do Perrin & Rowe hot water taps dispense boiling water?

A Perrin & Rowe hot water tap reaches a maximum temperature of 98°C, a couple of degrees below boiling. We find that this temperature is the ideal balance for both tea and coffee. Tea leaves or coffee can be scalded with boiling water, and many devotees recommend 95-98°C for the perfect cuppa or steaming hot coffee. Certain other herbal and leaf teas, such as green tea, are best brewed at slightly lower temperatures (typically 75-80°C) and if you are a tea drinker you can pre-set the temperature of your hot water tank anywhere between 75°C and 98°C. Compared to some boiling water taps, Perrin & Rowe instant hot taps produce less steam and spitting, and our owners often comment that they are more comfortable to use.

Do instant hot water taps help conserve water?

Absolutely. The beauty of a hot water tap is that you use precisely the amount of water that you need - you can fill a cup of tea, a cafetière of coffee, a baby’s bottle or a pan of water directly from the tap without having to judge water quantity. With a kettle it is all too easy to overfill and boil water that you won’t be using - or underfill and require a second boiling.

Does an instant hot water tap cost less to run than a kettle?

A Perrin & Rowe hot water tap is always ready to use, maintaining the water at your preferred temperature in a highly insulated tank, whereas a kettle will see energy spikes throughout the day as you use it. Which costs less to run , a kettle or a hot tap, depends on individual use. Many of us overfill kettles or boil them, forget, and then boil them again, wasting energy. An instant hot water tap only dispenses exactly the amount needed, so for many households it is an efficient option.

Are hot water taps safe to use, and safe around children?

All our hot water taps feature an intelligent ‘anti-scald’ mechanism, so they are perfect for family homes and busy kitchens. This means that the tap can’t be accidentally knocked by small (or clumsy!) hands, and are perfect for family homes and busy kitchens. They are easy to operate and control, and utilising the very latest engineering technology, all taps also come with a Nano‑technology cartridge which filters water while preventing the build‑up of limescale.

Our compact hot tanks hold 2.4 litres of water, enough for daily usage, and sit neatly under your kitchen sink. It can be installed quickly and easily using a standard 13 amp socket, and it’s backed by the Perrin & Rowe promise and guarantee. You’ll get a state-of-the-art touch screen display that enables you to pre-set the water temperature to between 75˚C and 98˚C to suit your needs. All Perrin & Rowe hot taps also come with a nano‑technology cartridge which filters the hot water while preventing the build‑up of limescale.

Perrin & Rowe hot water taps come in miniature versions, to sit alongside bridge mixers and other taps in our collection, as well as what we call 3-in-1 designs; one tap that dispenses hot, cold and near boiling water from just two lever handles. We see many customers installing hot water taps alongside smaller sinks as part of kitchen ‘coffee stations’ or bar areas, whilst our 3-in-1 designs mean that even if you are lacking in space or have a smaller kitchen sink you can still install a hot water tap.
