Whether embarking on a family bathroom renovation or updating an ensuite, one essential feature can significantly enhance your experience: a double sink vanity unit. Offering convenience, stylish aesthetics and valuable time-saving benefits, double bathroom sinks represent the future of modern design. We have curated all the information and inspiration you need to elevate your next project.

1. There are many benefits of a dual bathroom sink

Whether it’s two single sinks positioned side by side, an integrated double vanity or a bespoke design, dual bathroom sinks are becoming increasingly popular due to the luxe look they offer along with the practicalities of having more space.  Having a dual bathroom sink also helps to streamline morning routines - no waiting for your partner in the ensuite or for the kids to hurry before school.  As well as saving time, double bathroom sinks provide the opportunity to create a personalised curated space. Morning and evening essentials can be organised within each zone with no compromise or clutter.

Victoria + Albert has a stunning selection of bathroom basins that can be designed as twin vessel basins to complement its wide range of luxurious and statement baths as well as undermount and inset styles for a sleek countertop double sink vanity.

This stunning master bathroom has been designed to be an oasis of wellbeing and luxury; a sanctuary where owners can relax, reflect and recharge. 2. Double bathroom sinks are suitable for most bathrooms

Whether you go single or double does depend on how much space you have but it’s surprising what you can fit in. Especially if you choose wall mounted brassware and a floating countertop, which creates an illusion of space as it keeps the floor area clear.

This long and narrow contemporary Australian bathroom features the Victoria + Albert Amiata basins and bath in a Matt Black finish for a contemporary design. The wooden floating worktop adds interest and warmth while plenty of natural light helps to keep the room looking spacious.

3. A plethora of options for the best double sink vanity for your space

Your bathroom designer will talk you through all the options, ensuring style, storage, convenience and comfort are considered.  With Victoria + Albert there are a plethora of sink designs to choose from including the new Lussari back to wall basins, which are great for saving space on a reduced depth countertop.   Bespoke vanity units and coloured basins are becoming increasingly popular.

4. Double sinks are on-trend as well as timeless

Nigel Palmer adds, “The most notable trend right now is for twin basins, either countertop-mounted or inset into a bespoke vanity unit. Victoria + Albert’s best-seller continues to be the iconic Barcelona, which matches the bath of the same name and has a classically curved, symmetrical form.”

Double sinks certainly create that spa-style sanctuary look and feel that many homeowners are searching for. It’s moved effortlessly from trendy to timeless and is sure to bring a luxurious hotel vibe to your space.

5. Double sinks have the Hollywood seal of approval

“Catherine Zeta-Jones, who has been married to Michael Douglas for 25 years, once said that the secret to a happy marriage is having separate bathrooms,” says Nigel Palmer. “If two bathrooms aren’t an option, then twin washbasins are the next best thing. At House of Rohl, we’ve seen a growing trend towards larger vanity units featuring double basins. Increasingly, these are countertop designs that sit on top of the unit rather than being inset, creating a striking design feature. For a touch of added luxury, opt for a matt finish to gently diffuse the light.”

This WOW!house Primary Bathroom by 1508 London would definitely look right at home in a Hollywood bathroom complete with twin wet vanities from Anka Bespoke.  Using the latest liquid metal technology, the vanity units offer a tactile bronzed finish and are elegantly adorned with sculptural basins from the Victoria + Albert Seros collection.

6. What are the practical considerations for a dual sink?

Ideally, you need a width of around 150-180cm to fit in a double sink set-up.  This gives you plenty of room and enough counter space for your toothbrush and so on.  Your bathroom designer or plumber will be able to talk you through any plumbing requirements once they’ve had a site visit to draw up plans.
