Historic Sydney Home

LocationSydney, AustraliaDesignPhoebe Nichol

This Sydney project by interior designer Phoebe Nicol involved a full interior renovation of a 1925 home originally designed by Bruce Delit. The shell of this classic home was retained, whilst the interior was sympathetically restored whilst retaining original features such as the original stairwell and cornices.

The home has classic art deco features throughout, and as such the interior design scheme nods to this era. New features were introduced such as a fireplace, skirting boards, cornices and door hardware, all in keeping with the heritage of the home.

Of course, in the bathrooms, the Deco collection was the obvious choice; a collection with its roots in traditional design, brought up to date with the geometric features of the art deco era.

No detail was ignored, with antiques sourced from France and Perrin & Rowe brassware in a warm nickel finish specified throughout the home, from the kitchen to the bathrooms.

Twin showers are a practical luxury in the master bathroom, as is the York bath from Victoria + Albert paired with a wall-mounted bath filler. Elsewhere, Phoebe Nicol has proved less can sometimes be more as simplistic shower sets have been specified - showing off the Deco collection in all it's beauty.
